It was one of those rare days that Eugenie Bouchard and Milos Raonic will trade off their tennis shoes for some basketball shoes and play alongside other celebrities in the 2016 NBA Celebrity All-Star Challenge.
Both tennis players, played for Team Canada which was pitted to go against Team USA.
Teaming up with them in Team Canada are Win Butler, Drew Scott, Jonathan Scott, Kris Wu, Stephan James, Tom Cavanagh, Tammy Sutton-Brown, Tracy McGrady and Rick Fox. They were coached by Drake.
Their team prevailed over Team USA, 74-63, which was coached by comedian, Kevin Hart. Playing for Team USA were: Anthony Anderson, Mark Lasry, Joel David Moore, Nick Cannon, Jason Sudeikis, Chauncey Billups, Elena Delle Donne, O’Shea Jackson Jr., Muggsy Bogues and Terrence Jenkins.
The 2016 Australian Open Semi-Finalist, Milos Raonic played quite good by hitting shots and even scoring a two-handed dunk.
On the other hand, Eugenie Bouchard was a starter for Team Canada but failed to score but grabbed a rebound.
“It’s an honor to be part of this team,” said Bouchard in a post game interview.
“I think our team did awesome. We had a lot of energy and it was so fun to meet all these guys and just play with them.”
For the first time in NBA history, a Canadian city hosted the All-Star weekend.
“I think it is amazing for Toronto to host (the NBA) All-Star Weekend. think it is an honor and I think it is great for the city and great for the people her as well just to see such high profile athletes in their own city. Basketball is my favorite sport after tennis, I’m so happy we get to have this in Toronto.”
