Family & Children’s Center receives large donation

Thanks to Dahl Subaru in La Crosse, more local children will be helped from child abuse prevention services.

Over the holidays, customers who purchased or leased a new Subaru vehicle from Dahl were able to choose a charity to receive a $250 donation including: Make A Wish, Meals on Wheels, the National Park Foundation, and the “hometown charity,” the Family & Children’s Center.

This year, Dahl donated $24,000 to the center.

General Manager Tyler Dahl said last year they raised about $8,000 for the center. However, this was the first year they matched donations.

“For the last two years we’ve been able to choose a local charity to help divert some of those dollars. So we partnered with Family and Children’s Center, that our guests who buy a new Subaru at the end of November, all the way through the end of the year get to choose. So buy a Subaru, say I want $250 to stay here locally and support an amazing agency like the Family and Children’s Center.”

Tita Yutuc, President and CEO of the Family & Children’s Center said it helps them out a lot.

“It’s an enormous help and it’s an enormous support. All of the donations go to help fund our child abuse prevention programs, our healthy families, our hope academy program, our stepping stones programs. Those programs address some of the most at risk children and parents in our communities, so it’s huge and we couldn’t do it without them,” said Yutuc.

According to Yutuc, in 2015, there were 1,600 instances of abuse involving more than 2,000 children.

Each year, the Family & Children’s Center helps more than 2,000 people in the La Crosse area.
