Young Girl Receives Huge Donation From Taylor Swift

It is never easy for a child to be diagnosed with Acute Myelogenous Leukemia, even for an adult. Naomi Oakes is a beautiful blonde haired, blue eyed normal 11-year-old girl, whose life revolved around family, church and friends. She loves to do anything exciting with her friends such as being a fan of Taylor Swift. She has four other siblings and Naomi is the youngest of the lot.

June 25th 2015, changed Naomi’s life when she was diagnosed with AML. Instead of caring about her own feelings, she was worried about her mother. Although she began chemotherapy treatments, she never let it dampen her spirits, instead, she cracks jokes and made sure the room was always filled with laughter and joy.

“Who is your favorite singer?” asked a nurse.

“Umm…Taylor Swift!” replied Naomi as the nurse was taking her vital signs.

“She was singing “Bad Blood” all the way to the hospital. That’s her new theme song,” said Naomi’s father. “Can we fix the bad blood dad?”

Naomi’s favorite song “Bad Blood” was by her absolute favorite singer, Taylor Swift, and because of her illness, she was unable to go to Swift’s concert in Phoenix, Arizona, with her best friend, Piper. Her AML aggressive treatment needed her to be in hospital for six to nine months depending on the progression. Because of that, her family recorded a video of Naomi to help pass a message to Swift. They hoped for Swift to post a message for Naomi on Instagram.

Taylor Swift made it even sweeter.

Not only did she post a message back to Naomi, the “Bad Blood” singer found out the GoFundMe page of the family’s and donated $50,000, way past the amount they were asking for, to help with Naomi’s medical expenses. Naomi’s family was eternally grateful and stunned. They managed to capture Naomi’s emotional reaction at the hospital and posted it up on YouTube.

Her message read:

“To the beautiful and brave Naomi,” she wrote. “I’m sorry you have to miss it, but there will always be more concerts. Let’s focus on getting you feeling better. I’m sending the biggest hugs to you and your family.”

Naomi held on to the smartphone and had nothing but smiles for her favorite singer.

“I can barely breathe,” she gasped. “I seriously think I’m going to pass out right now.” She continued to stare at the phone in disbelief.
